User agreement

Terms of Use

These terms explain the rules for using PixelBake, including accounts, media, conversions, storage, backups, and future paid plans.

Effective

Operator
PixelBake

1. Agreement and eligibility

These Terms of Use ("Terms") are an agreement between you and PixelBake. By creating an account, accessing, or using PixelBake, you agree to these Terms and acknowledge the Privacy Policy. If you use PixelBake for an organization, you represent that you can bind that organization to these Terms.

You must be at least 13 years old and legally able to enter into this agreement. PixelBake is not directed to children under 13.

2. The service

PixelBake lets users upload media, inspect it, convert it into formats for supported microcontrollers and displays, preview or download results, and use storage, Trash, or off-server backup features included with their plan. Features labeled beta, experimental, estimated, or coming soon may be incomplete, changed, or removed.

3. Accounts and security

Provide accurate account information, keep your credentials confidential, and promptly notify PixelBake if you believe your account has been compromised. You are responsible for activity performed through your account unless applicable law provides otherwise. PixelBake may require email verification, rate-limit requests, or revoke sessions to protect the service and its users.

4. Your media and permissions

You retain ownership of media and other content you submit ("User Content"). You grant PixelBake a limited, non-exclusive license to host, copy, analyze, transcode, resize, preview, back up, restore, and transmit User Content only as needed to provide, secure, maintain, and troubleshoot the service.

You represent that you have the rights needed to submit and process your User Content. Do not upload content that is unlawful, infringing, malicious, or violates another person's privacy or rights. PixelBake does not claim ownership of conversion outputs created from your content.

5. Plans, quotas, retention, and backup

Each plan may limit storage, file size, active uploads, conversions, output size, retention, Trash recovery, and backup. Current limits are shown in your account and workspace. Files may be rejected, conversions stopped, or new work blocked when a limit is reached.

Free-plan working files may expire automatically. Paid-plan files may remain until deleted, subject to plan status and published retention rules. Items in Trash remain unavailable, count toward quota, and are permanently purged after the displayed recovery period. Off-server backup is an optional feature, not a substitute for your own independent backup. PixelBake does not guarantee that every file can be recovered.

6. Acceptable use

You may not use PixelBake to:

  • break the law, infringe rights, or process content you lack permission to use;
  • upload malware or attempt unauthorized access to accounts or systems;
  • bypass quotas, rate limits, access controls, or service safeguards;
  • interfere with other users or place unreasonable load on the service; or
  • resell or provide shared access unless a plan expressly permits it.

7. Device outputs and estimates

Codec compatibility, frame-rate ceilings, file-size forecasts, memory budgets, and hardware guidance are estimates based on selected settings, available documentation, and test data. Actual results depend on media complexity, firmware, libraries, displays, storage, wiring, and hardware. Test outputs on non-critical hardware before deployment. PixelBake is not intended for medical, emergency, automotive-safety, or other safety-critical use.

8. Paid services

Paid checkout is not currently available. If PixelBake introduces paid plans, the price, billing interval, taxes, renewal terms, cancellation method, and any refund terms will be shown before purchase. Payment information may be handled by a payment processor under its own terms and privacy notice.

9. Suspension and termination

You may stop using PixelBake at any time. PixelBake may suspend or terminate access when reasonably necessary to address security risk, unlawful activity, material breach, nonpayment, abuse, or service shutdown. Where practical, PixelBake will provide notice and an opportunity to export active files before a planned shutdown, but legal, security, or emergency conditions may require immediate action.

10. Third-party services and open source

PixelBake relies on hosting, email, storage, and other service providers. Their services may be governed by separate terms. PixelBake also uses open-source software governed by its respective licenses; see the Open-Source Notices.

11. Disclaimers

To the fullest extent permitted by law, PixelBake is provided "as is" and "as available." PixelBake disclaims implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, and uninterrupted or error-free operation. Nothing in these Terms excludes warranties or consumer rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.

12. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, PixelBake will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, goodwill, or business interruption. PixelBake's aggregate liability relating to the service will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid PixelBake during the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim or US $100. These limits do not apply where prohibited by law.

13. Responsibility for claims

To the extent permitted by law, you will defend and indemnify PixelBake against third-party claims arising from your User Content, your unlawful use of the service, or your material breach of these Terms. This obligation does not apply to claims caused by PixelBake's own unlawful conduct.

14. Applicable law and disputes

Mandatory consumer protections in your place of residence remain unaffected. Other disputes are governed by the law that applies where PixelBake is principally operated, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and may be brought in a court with lawful jurisdiction there. Before filing a claim, the parties should attempt in good faith to resolve it informally for 30 days.

15. Changes and contact

PixelBake may update these Terms as the service changes. The effective date above will be revised, and material changes may receive additional notice. Continued use after updated Terms take effect constitutes acceptance where permitted by law.

Questions about these Terms may be sent to privacy@pixelbake.io.
